The Glad Game
"Pollyanna's philosophy of life centers on what she calls "The Glad Game", an optimistic attitude she learned from her father. The game consists of finding something to be glad about in every situation."
I have allowed myself 7 minutes to write this post. Last night at about 2 AM I heard a banging sound and looked out the window to see people breaking into one of our tenants cars. I soon found out that they had already smashed our car window and rummaged through our stuff too. I mentioned funk in the fridge a post or two ago but I haven't really delved into the funk that I have been in for the last several months, more of a black hole really. Luckily Laura saved the day. As we stood outside in bare feet filing a police report and realized that nothing was missing from our car (our iPod and a spare car key were in the car), she said, "at least they didn't take anything." The moonlight wrapped a glow around her smiling face and I swear she looked just like Haylee Mills in Pollyanna talking about crutches and having legs or something. Seriously folks, we had a good laugh and had to replace a window today, big deal! Pretty soon the whole town is going to come over and get me outta bed and a musical will be playing in our front yard. Feel free to stop by.

Tom,
Geez. It makes you feel so violated when punks pull this kind of stuff. What were they after anyway if they didn't take anything out of your car I wonder.
The great thing about being married is that one of you can get down, and the other is there to help you out of it and then you can switch places. Tom, you are always the happiest and most optimistic guy I know. You'll break through the funk. love you both
Tom and Laura,
Here is another positive thought at least they didn't find your 8th grade journals and read them. Because I know someone where that totally happened to them. Stupid punks. I can imagine it was creepy to see them actually breaking in. Stupid punks. I'm glad nothing important was taken.
Love you guys
so just as an addendum, we realized two days later that something was stolen. After looking high and low and all around the house, we figured out that those poor old saps stole sam's backpack. boy we're they disappointment when all they found was math homework and pokemon cards. suckers! sam suggested that the police shoot them for the offense. I think i need to have a little chatty chat with him regarding proper methods of social reform. However, he told me the other day that I ALWAYS use words he doesn't understand so...suggestions?

So sad to hear about the break in. Do you remember the first time we talked about the "glad Game'? It was in Yellowstone and we'd all gone on a camping trip together and it rained, rained rained all weekend. You said ,we'll we could play the glad game. I smiled and told you our family LOVED the glad game! We love you, Tom
Just thinking about the break in reminded me of when we were living in Bogata, Columbia. Most people had to take stool samples to the lab to check for bugs. Well, one day my friend was walking down the street with her little bag and someone ran up and stole it. What a surprise they found when the bag was opened.:-)
have a good one.
your moms story is hilarious! we had our car broken into and they stole Aarons backpack, a few weeks later i was coming in through the front door, which i never do, and sure enough there was Aarons backpack right there! the book was gone but everything else was returned, what kind of theif is that?
